Additional Resources

Taking the leap to seek help is a courageous act. Confusing processes or financial concerns are barriers to successful healing that I try to be proactive in addressing. You can find helpful resources on this page to better understand therapy, paying for services, understanding insurance, and more.

What to expect... Talk Therapy

Your First Session

Your first therapy session is considered an "assessment". This session is going to look different than the rest of your treatment as its an opportunity to get to know you (and for you to get to know me), what your concerns are, and what strengths you already have to work with. During this session it may feel more like an interview than therapy, but its important for me to gather as much information as possible to help you identify your goals for treatment and a roadmap of how to get there.

Follow Up Sessions

Follow up sessions are focused on reviewing the previous week, identifying any changes that you made or noticed, exploring new insights you may have, identifying thoughts, feelings, and behavior patterns that are not serving your best interest, and coming up with solutions. That being said, every client and every situation is different! We will find a rhythm and approach that works for you.

Paying for Sessions

Session fees will be collected on the date of service and charged to the credit card on file unless otherwise discussed during session. You will be provided a detailed invoice that you can submit to your insurance carrier for out-of-network reimbursement. Cancellations that occur less than 24 hours in advance and no shows may result in a fee of $50 that will be charged to the card on file at the time of the scheduled visit.

What to expect... Meditation Coaching Sessions

Your First Session

Your first coaching session will consist of a brief intake to gather important information that will help guide our sessions. We will review your exposure/experience with meditation and mindfulness, and an overview of the fundamentals of practice and the benefit to overall well-being. We will wrap up with a guided meditation to gauge your current practice and areas of focus.

Follow Up Sessions

Follow up sessions will start with a review of your process between sessions and exploration of new insights. We can identify where you felt you succeeded and areas for improvement. We will then dive deeper into a fundamental meditation approach and practice this approach in session together. We will wrap up with a quick check in, review of material, and goal setting for the next session.

Paying for Sessions

Session fees will be collected on the date of service and charged to the credit card on file unless otherwise discussed during session. Meditation coaching is NOT reimbursable through insurance companies. Cancellations that occur less than 24 hours in advance and no shows may result in a fee of $50 that will be charged to the card on file at the time of the scheduled visit.

Navigating Insurance Reimbursement

Out of Network Coverage

Out-of-Network coverage is an optional feature that many major commercial insurance companies offer for members who want more options in providers. Not all plans provide Out-of-Network reimbursement so it is important to know the details of your personal coverage.

If you aren't sure, you can check your insurance card to see if there is a line for "OON" services. It may also be displayed as a second number in a series, for example: "OV: $10/$20." In this case, a copay for an office visit for an In-Network provider would be $10, and $20 for an Out-of-Network provider. For more information on how insurance works, what you pay for, and how to read an insurance card, check out this helpful resource from SAMHSA.

If your Out-of-Network coverage doesn't appear on your card, or you still aren't sure, it is best to contact your carrier by calling the customer service number on the back of your insurance card.

Filing a Claim

Most major insurance companies have online claim filing available for their customers. This is the fastest way to receive your reimbursement. If available, you can file a claim by logging into the portal through your insurance's website. In order to file a claim you will need:

  • your insurance policy/member number found on your card

  • the name and information of the person who received the service

  • what the visit was for (psychotherapy)

  • an itemized bill/invoice from your doctor (I will provide this to you via email after each session)

If necessary, you may need to mail in a claim on your own behalf. To do this you will need to download a claim form from your insurance provider. For help on how to fill out the standard claim form, click here

Apps can Make Claim Filing Simple

I am currently enrolled with Reimbursify, an app that helps file claims for you for a small fee. Clients are able to download the Reimbursify app, search my practice information, and upload provided itemized invoices to their account. Once submitted, the folks at Reimbursify will fill out and file the claim on your behalf. Reimbursements are direct deposited 1-2x per month and you may upload multiple invoices at a time.

* I do not receive any compensation from Reimbursify if my clients choose to use this service.
